All I do is click the daggerfall icon when I want to play. All I know is when I installed Daggerfall with this version, All I had to do was run the setup.exe and it put a daggerfall icon on my desktop.

Make the combat set active when you hold one trigger down, then you can use one of the sticks to swing the weapon (which ever is mapped to mouse movement). The mouse speed in Xpadder needs to be really fast for combat and normal speed for movement and menu navigation.
If I recall correctly, the trick to making it work is you have to use its "sets" feature and have a different "set" with as different mouse speed for combat and normal movement. I created an Xpadder profile a long time ago for Daggerfall that worked pretty well, but I haven't used it in years.
